  • Test Item Specifications
    • Reporting Category: Number and Operations
      Item Type(s):
      This benchmark will be assessed using: MC, GR items.
      At Grade 7, this benchmark will be assessed using MC and GR items.
      Clarification: Students will solve real-world problems or mathematical constructs, including equations, expressions, or inequalities.
      Content Limits: Items may include up to three operations and up to five procedural steps.

      Items may include at least one negative integer, fraction, or terminating decimal.

      Items may include whole-number exponents less than or equal to 4.

      Items will not include raising an exponential expression to a power or using the laws of exponents (e.g., (2³)²).

      Items will not include scientific notation.
      Stimulus Attributes: Items should be set in a real-world or mathematical context.
      Response Attributes: Gridded-response items should not include the use of fractions that convert to non-terminating decimals (e.g, 1/3 or 1/7).

      Negative grids will be used in this benchmark.
      Prior Knowledge: Items may require the student to apply mathematical knowledge described in the Standards from lower grades. This benchmark requires prerequisite knowledge from MA.5.A.6.2.
