Engage Video Activity: “When Disaster Strikes! How to Survive Natural Disasters” from Discovery Education. Throughout the video segment, students were faced with several natural disaster facts, re-enactments, questions, and answers of what should be followed, if faced with a natural disaster.
Using the remaining “4 E’s,” listed below are the carousel of stations which were placed around the classroom.
Explore Station
- CREATE a plan for YOUR BIOME. Build, draw, label, predict, and EXPLAIN.
Explain Station
- Guinness World Records: Wild Weather. Read, Search, Record, and Share.
Extend Station
- CREATE an evacuation plan for YOUR home. Draw, label, and EXPLAIN.
Evaluation Station
- Video: “When Disaster Strikes! How to Survive Natural Disasters”
During the video, students were asked to predict the correct choices that will keep them safe if a disaster were to strike their family. The video provided immediate feedback with clear explanations for the reason for the BEST choice for safety.

Student 8 – “Science Day was very helpful because I learned what to do when disaster strikes. It was a great idea to draw an evacuation plan to get out of my house to reach safety.”
Student 9 – “I learned more than I thought I ever would about weather and the safest thing to do.
Student 10-“I learned new things on Science Day and my favorite activity was creating the biome.
